Program Overview

Safe Passages is a nonprofit organization committed to strengthening the well-being, academic success, and economic self-sufficiency of children, youth, and families. AmeriCorps VISTA members build the long-term capacity of Safe Passages and its partner sites by developing systems, tools, and partnerships that expand access to critical services across Oakland and the Bay Area.

Early Childhood VISTAs support Safe Passages’ early learning programs by helping strengthen and grow services for young children (ages 0–5) and their families. These positions focus on creating and improving tools, materials, and processes that help programs run smoothly and meet the needs of families and educators. VISTAs will help organize curriculum and training materials, track participation and outcomes, document program activities, and learn about best practices in early childhood education. Through this work, VISTAs help ensure families and educators have access to consistent, high-quality early learning support.

Two  positions available:

1. Baby Learning & Parent Workshops

The VISTA will help prepare and organize materials, support workshops and family learning activities, and assist with documenting and improving program activities. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys working closely with families and supporting positive early learning experiences.

2. Grow & Play – Early Childhood Educator Support
This position supports systems that help early childhood educators learn and grow together. The VISTA will help organize training resources, support professional learning communities, and create tools that improve communication, collaboration, and resource sharing among teachers.
